The Catenian Association is not primarily a fund raising organisation. Every year, however, the President of Bolton Circle selects a worthy cause to support.

The following are some of the organisations which have benefited from the President's fund raising activitie

  1. The Heart Foundation

  2. Cancer Research

  3. The Catholic Rescue Society

  4. Bolton Hospice

  5. Whizz Kids-An organisation which helps to provide mobility devices for disadvantaged children.

  6. Sight Saver International

The Catenian Bursary Fund is a registered charity, which makes a contribution towards the personal experience of any young catholic, between the ages of 16 and 25 who is prepared to work unpaid, helping under-privileged people anywhere in the world. The work should have a clear benefit for others, as well as widening the life experience of the participant.

Most members of the Association gift aid a subscription so that this valuable work may continue. The award is normally directed through a Circle in the participant’s area. It is normally presented either at a Circle meeting or at the parish church of the young person concerned. Afterwards, the young person is asked to give a talk on their experiences and perhaps write an article for the Association’s magazine.

Recently, six young people have received awards through Bolton Circle.

Bolton President David Murphy presents a Bursary Grant for a £1000.00 so that Sarah can carry out important work with children in a South African Orphanage and school.
